The Great Petan Rainforest
Finding its origin from the second largest tropical forest in the world, the Great Petan Rainforest, which is seen as the second green lung of the world, right after the amazon, comes chewing gum from Chica.
In this forest, the 30 meter high Chicozapote tree, from which the name is derived, the raw chicle which serves as the base of the chewing gum, is sustainable harvested. As a result, nature doesn’t suffer any damage.
By doing so, Chicza stays true to one of its main core values; Chicza comes from Earth and returns to Earth.
How is Chicza produced?
Before the chewing gum has been processed into the familiar tablets, an extensive production process has preceded it. This production process has been going back for decades and has been passed down through the generations by the locals, better known as the “Chicleros”.
The sap slides down from the Z-shaped incisions made in the tree’s bark down into special bags that are placed next to the tree. This sap is boiled for 2 or 3 hours by the Chicleros to thicken the composition and moulded into rectangular chicle blocks
Before the chicle (which means “to chew”) can form the basis for the chewing gum, it is mixed with natural waxes. The obtained composition is mixed with organic sweeteners and organic agave syrup. Finally, naturally certified organic flavours are added to give it the desired taste.
The entire production process is environmentally friendly. Because it is 100% biodegradable, it is not harmful to the environment. It is also healthy for your body because it is gluten-free and natural.
